Abstract:
As the commercial robot market continues to boom, spanning medical inspections, urban sanitation, warehouse sorting and public services, robots’ autonomous operation capability has become the core competitive barrier of the industry. Among them, ultrasonic sensors, boasting strong environmental adaptability, controllable costs and fast response, have evolved into the standard core components of commercial robots’ perception systems. They provide critical support for the precise operation of various robots in complex scenarios and drive the accelerated reconstruction of the intelligent service ecosystem.
Industry data shows that the global commercial service robot market size is expected to exceed 80 billion US dollars in 2025. As core perception units, sensors see a year-on-year demand growth of 45%. Ultrasonic sensors have gradually become a key part of multi-sensor fusion solutions, and are widely applied in key fields such as medical care, sanitation, power supply and warehousing.
1. Urban Sanitation: Intelligent Cleaning Robots Secure Operational Safety in Complex Environments
In the process of refined urban management, ultrasonic sensors endow sanitation robots with round-the-clock operational capability. Recently, YHT Group’s Sunshine S200 intelligent cleaning robot was officially deployed in Yongdeng County, Gansu Province. Its integrated multi-sensor fusion system combines ultrasonic sensors with LiDAR and cameras to achieve real-time detection and precise obstacle avoidance for pedestrians, vehicles, curbs and other obstructions.
Field test data shows that the robot boasts an obstacle avoidance response time of less than 0.1 seconds in complex scenarios such as crowded squares and narrow park trails. With a cleaning width of 1.9 meters and a cleaning capacity of over 10,000 square meters per hour, its efficiency is more than 5 times that of manual cleaning. The anti-interference performance of ultrasonic sensors ensures stable operation even in harsh weather conditions like rain, snow and sandstorms, greatly expanding the coverage and timeliness of sanitation operations.
2. Industry & Power: The “Safety Sentinels” of Inspection Robots
In the industrial inspection field, ultrasonic sensors have become key components for ensuring the safe operation of robots. Dianyingpu ultrasonic sensors have been applied in batches to smart grid inspection robots; through accurate anti-fall and anti-collision detection, they help the robots complete full-range inspections in the complex environments of substations. These robots need to cover over 2,700 data collection points. The anti-noise performance and environmental adaptability of ultrasonic sensors ensure uninterrupted inspection processes. Even in extreme weather such as scorching sun and heavy rain, 24-hour full-coverage inspections without blind spots are achievable, with a data collection accuracy rate of 99.8%.
In warehousing and logistics scenarios, ultrasonic sensors such as DYP-A02, DYP-A21 and DYP-A22 are widely used in Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). They enable precise positioning and path planning through real-time distance measurement, ensuring efficiency and safety during cargo sorting and handling. Their stable performance under strong light and dusty environments makes them core perception components in intelligent warehousing systems.
3. Industry Outlook: Multimodal Fusion Becomes the Core Technology Trend
Scenario-specific application demands for commercial robots are driving continuous iteration of ultrasonic sensor technology. Going forward, ultrasonic sensors will further integrate deeply with AI algorithms and multimodal perception technologies, enabling wider applications in fields such as medical precision detection, robotic adaptive locomotion and complex-environment inspections. As costs are continuously optimized and performance enhanced, ultrasonic sensors will help commercial robots accelerate penetration into more niche scenarios, injecting sustained impetus into the development of the intelligent service industry.
